The Instinct is a latest generation GPS watch that meets the military standard MIL-STD-810G. Designed with resistant materials (fiber-reinforced polymer casing), it is robust, waterproof (up to 100 m) and dust-proof and resistant to shocks and vibrations.
Its screen is scratch-resistant and offers high contrast for perfect readability, even in direct sunlight.

The watch is equipped with Garmin Elevate™ optical wrist cardio which analyzes 24/7 cardio data with precision and allows daily stress analysis.

The Instinct is equipped with a triple GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellite receiver to provide very precise localization in the most difficult environments.

The watch has the most advanced location technologies, a 3-axis electronic compass and a barometric altimeter (automatic calibration).

The Instinct integrates navigation functions (LiveTrack, TracBack), training functions as well as numerous activity profiles (running, Trail-Running, treadmill, hiking, cycling, indoor cycling, mountain biking , swimming, open water swimming, skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding...).

The Instinct is a connected watch, it integrates Smart Notifications (calls, SMS and other notifications) and embeds Bluetooth (BLE) which allows access to LiveTrack, to be followed in real time by relatives or friends.
Garmin Connect and Garmin Explore tools allow you to plan and download activities.
The watch is compatible with ANT+ sensors but also Bluetooth (BLE) to cover all accessories on the market.


MIL-STD-810G military certification of the watch:

The MIL-STD-810G standard was created in 1945 by the United States Air Force, Army Air Force (AAF).
In 1965, the US Air Force published a technical report with data and information on the origin and development of natural and induced environmental tests for aerospace and ground equipment.
Since then, this standard has evolved regularly while remaining a guarantee of quality and resistance manufacturing.

Here is a list of requirements met for the design of the Garmin Instinct watch:

- Drop resistant: 26 drops on all sides, edges and corners on surfaces such as plywood and concrete, from various heights from 1.20 m to 2.10 m

- Resistant to extreme temperatures: remains operational and enduring even under extreme temperatures, ranging from -34° to +60°

- Resistant to salt spray: sea test in extreme conditions

- Resistant and tested against humidity: for 10 days at a humidity rate of up to 95% and at temperatures ranging from 23°C to 60°C in a non-condensing environment and up to 30 days in a natural humid environment.

- Resistant to high altitude: test up to 15,240 meters.


Tactical functions (only available on the Tactical version):

- Night vision mode
This mode makes it easy to switch between day and night view with a screen that can be read with night vision binoculars.

- Stealth mode
In this mode the watch stops recording and sharing your GPS position and disables wireless connections and communications.

- Mode Jumpmaster
This feature calculates high altitude drop points according to military guidelines and helps you navigate to your objective once you've jumped.

- Projection of Waypoints
This function allows you to create a waypoint to mark the location of your vehicle before starting your journey. You can determine a GPS point from a distance.

- Display of two position formats
The watch offers the possibility of displaying UTM and MGRS coordinates on the same screen.
