The Expedition is Silva's most popular compass. Known for its precision and durability, it is intended for explorers, hikers and rescuers.

It has a detachable measuring strap, rulers with several scales (1:25k, 1:50k), a magnifying glass for detailed reading on the map as well as a clinometer for measuring the angle of the slope .

Tilt map to measure the slope:

The slope map is ideal for detecting the avalanche risk and thus for assessing the risk depending on the terrain. By knowing the steepness of the slope, you can also judge the extra distance you may have to travel due to the slope. The avalanche risk increases if the slope is greater than 30°. With the compass and a slope map, you can measure the risk for added safety.
