Features of DVAEvo5 Guess:
• SEARCH BANDWIDTH
The search bandwidth corresponds to the width of the area “scanned” by the DVA. The larger the search bandwidth, the larger the search area the device covers. It is often used to compare device performance.
• SELF-CHECK FUNCTION
During start-up, the transceiver does a self-check. It checks the battery level, the correct functionality of the device and informs the user in the event of a problem.
• GROUP CHECK FUNCTION
The "group-check" function makes it easy to ensure that all members of a group are wearing a transceiver. The "group-check" function places the device in proximity search, which allows each member of the group to be checked individually by being less than one meter from them. The functionality of the devices is thus checked.
In this mode, the device equipped with the "frequency control" function indicates whether the transmitting device is operating well on the international standardized frequency of 457 kHz.
All devices on the market use this frequency but can however shift over time. If the frequency of the transmitting device is shifted by more or less 80 Hz then the device in group-check mode indicates an error. If the frequency control is done by measurement then the frequency deviation is displayed to inform the user.
• REVERT-TO-TRANSMIT FUNCTION IN CASE OF OVERAVALANCHE
During research, in the event of an avalanche, the return to transmission function allows the beacon to return to transmission automatically, without user action. The return to transmission is done either by timer, after a delay without user action, or by motion detector after a delay without movement of the device. The delays can be configured in the DVA configuration menu.
• INTERFERENCE MANAGEMENT
Interference management optimizes the performance of the device when searching in an environment polluted by electromagnetic interference from other devices in the vicinity. To do this, the device in search automatically reduces the search bandwidth to focus on the signal of the device being searched for, disregarding interference frequencies (filter). This function can be disabled if needed by the user.
• MARKING FUNCTION
In research, once a victim has been located, the marking function makes it possible to disregard
this victim to focus on finding another victim. The signal of the “marked” victim is then no longer taken into account for the rest of the search operations.
