Petzl Nao RL Headlamp - Performance Headlamp Series
The Nao RL is the ideal headlamp for dynamic and committed activities such as running, trail-running, skiing and mountaineering.
It is the result of a collaborative development between Petzl and ultra-trailer François D'Haene, who brought his experience in the field.
• Ultra-powerful (1500 lumens - ANSI/PLATO FL 1) with quality lighting
• Comfortable and light (only 145 g)
• Thin and flexible front plate that adapts to all body types
• Reactive Lighting technology: automatically adapts the light intensity while moving for more visual comfort and to optimize the use of the battery
• Three lighting powers (max burn time, standard and max power)
• Wide and mixed beams for near or far vision
• Designed for fast travel
• Ergonomic, adjustable and integral headband (around the head and above) for optimal support
• Reflective headband to improve visibility at night
• New R1 remote battery, high performance 3200 mAh lithium-ion (recharges via USB-C)
• Red lighting, fixed or flashing on the battery on the back of the lamp (an independent button allows it to be activated or deactivated quickly)
• LOCK function to prevent accidental switching on during transport/storage or to lock the lighting configuration during activity
• Guaranteed autonomy of 5 hours in Reactive Lighting mode
• Power from 10 to 1500 lumens and lighting from 10 to 200 meters
Storage pouch provided for the lamp and an additional battery: it also allows the lamp to be transformed into a lantern (in Standard mode)
Optional extra batteries for long-duration activities

• Specificities of the Nao RL lamp:
- Reactive Lighting smart lighting
This technology developed by Petzl instantly provides the right level of lighting at the right time, without manual action. The autonomy of the battery is thus optimized without the user having to worry about it. Reactive Lighting is evenly distributed and offers better visual comfort.
- Battery with energy gauge
The Nao RL lamp has a 5-level gauge that indicates the state of charge of the battery.
The remote power source at the back distributes the weight of the light over the entire head and provides a balanced and comfortable fit.
The battery can be used as a Power Bank to charge other devices (phone, watch, GPS...)
• Lighting modes (intelligent):
- Wide beam for proximity lighting
This wide and low-power lighting allows you to see comfortably at your fingertips or at your feet.
It is ideal for looking at an object at a short distance (reading a map, making a tying knot or setting up a tent, for example).
The lighting automatically adapts to the distance of the object.
- Mixed beam (wide and focused) for movement and distant vision
The mixed beam allows you to see near and far to be able to move around (wide to see at your feet and focused to see at a few meters and anticipate the relief).
By raising the head to see far away (looking for a beacon in the race or a beacon on the wall for example), the lighting power increases considerably and the beam becomes focused.
• Lighting performance according to ANSI protocol (American National Standard Institute):
Petzl follows the ANSI/PLATO FL 1 protocol to measure and communicate on the lighting power and the autonomy of its headlamps. This approach allows you to easily compare the performance of different models of headlamps from Petzl and other manufacturers who adopt this protocol, using the same benchmark.
• Lighting power (in lumens)
This measurement is carried out between 30 seconds and 2 minutes after lighting the lamp. It indicates the maximum power emitted, with new cells or batteries, when the lamp is started.
• Lighting distance (in meters)
This is the maximum distance between the lamp and the place where only 0.25 lux of illumination remains. The measurement is carried out on ignition with new cells or batteries. The lighting distance depends directly on the lighting power, but above all on the shape of the beam.
• Autonomy (in hours)
It corresponds to the duration during which the lighting is optimal, from the ignition of the lamp until reaching 10% of the maximum power. Below this power, we switch to the "lighting reserve" phase.
• The lighting reserve (in hours)
The lighting reserve guarantees minimum operating or safety lighting.
